Hello,
Just a short introduction telling who we are, where we are located and why we chose Katahdin Hair sheep to raise, breed, or sell.

We are located in the South central part of Louisiana, approximately 2 miles North of Jennings, near Interstate 10.

Until our children finished high school, we raised wool sheep for 4-H projects, receiving, among other awards, Reserve Grand Champion winner of the Jeff Davis Livestock Show, Louisiana Bred Champion Ram of the Calcasieu Livestock Show and Louisiana Bred Champion ram, LSU Livestock Show.

Following retirement, I decided to raise a breed of sheep that did not require shearing.  We bought a few commercial Katahdin ewes and after a few months and a few lambs we sold commercial ewes. After doing considerable research, we bought registered ewes from COR (Country Oak Ranch), owned by Mark and Sara Dennis of New Iberia, La.  We now have nineteen ewes, all are white having “A” coats.

While on a trip to Montana with Mark, I purchased from Vaughn Johnson, a ram which is a son of Goliath (Canadian Champion weighing 380 pounds.)   He has grown out to be a special ram with exceptional muscle, length and height, with “AA” coat.  This ram is now 5 years old, weighing approximately 300 pounds and has received a Scrapie Genotyping Codon 171 “QR.”

Our goal is to raise an outstanding flock of Katahdins by culling, breeding and selling – keeping only the best ewes and rams for breeding and selling, while others go to slaughter.

We have been enrolled in the Scrapie program since June, 2003 and are members of Katahdin Hair Sheep International, KHSI and Southcentral Katahdin Hair Sheep Assn., SCKA.

If we can be of any assistance to anyone, feel free to call.  Or come by and visit over a cup of Cajun coffee.

All inquiries are welcome, and all sales will be private treaty.  We wish all the best in 2007.
